A&I wins National Award

Continuing to set new standards of professionalism remodeling companies from across the United States were named winners at the eighteenth annual Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence. The winning projects were selected from 420 entries. The entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.

A&I won the remodeling award for a fire restoration project in Conway, SC. On July 31st, 2011 University Place Apartments had the misfortune of catching fire. The fire ripped through the roof causing significant fire damage on the 3rd floor and heavy smoke and water damage on the 1st and 2nd. University Place Apartments is student housing for Coastal Carolina University. University Place Apartments is a university supported community and houses nearly 1000 students in 21 buildings.

The projects biggest challenge from day one was time. Each semester the building was inhabitable students would remain displaced. In 4 months the restoration project was complete allowing the adequate time for students to move in for the Spring Semester.

“A&I has won 8 Chrysalis Awards, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to professionalism and excellence in the restoration industry,” says Ken Kanline director of the program.

The Chrysalis Awards program, begun in 1994, recognizes the nation’s best work in sixteen general categories of residential and commercial remodeling. Pictures of the 2012 award-winning projects can be seen on Chrysalis website www.chrysalisawards.com beginning in late June.
